CloudKid Presents updog - leave me alone

Back on his more alternative and pop-rock grind is updog’s third release, ‘leave me alone,’ from his fourth EP, ‘falling is flying,’ out this summer on CloudKid. updog’s signature flow, quirky vocal bending, and honest lyricism is coupled with a solid production and choir-like synergy on the track’s chorus which make for an interesting and successful pairing that the artist seems to know how to tackle well at this point.

updog says, “The song is about an overbearing friend, who you really want to like, and you do at the start, but then starts acting clingy, possessive and disrespectful by not respecting privacy or understanding that you have a life of your own outside your friendship with them. I had a friend like this, and don’t get me wrong, he was a good guy, but we both had completely different lifestyles and values. He just kept pushing, until I eventually started to, sadly, ghost him.”

»He was a good guy, but we both had completely different lifestyles.«

updog left 2021 and has now graduated from quirky pop melodies and whacky lyrics to head back to his alt-pop rock roots. Previously, the artist had explored more abstract and fun narratives, but this time moves toward focusing on darker and heavier sounds on this record, while trying to reclaim the meaning of the ‘what’s updog’ joke his artist project is so named after. With support from music tastemakers such as MrSuicideSheep, xKito, Valliant already, and a growing fan-base and community who are eager to see what he does next, but let’s just say 2022 continues to look bright — but, not too bright — for him. ‘leave me alone‘ out NOW!
